Where function meets style
The High Sky Manifesto

You may have noticed our Art & Crafts style look. There is reason for that choice. The belief of that movement was that design should be fully integrated with an object, not tacked on as an afterthought, nor should it impede the function of that object. We hold the same belief when it comes to web design.

A site should be crafted to be both functional, as well as interesting and attractive. It should strike a balance between sharing information, and entertaining the user. An overly ornate site will frustrate users who are looking for information, and a sterile, information-only site will be so boring that users will leave the site before learning its message.

High Sky Design strives to provide sites that use savvy design. We are also careful that the inner workings are optimized to bring a targeted audience to our clients' sites, increasing their visibility on the web.

We don't believe in hurling heaps of technological mumbo-jumbo at our clients. Nor do we press upon them our views on what their site should be or look like. We are merely here as facilitators, counsellors, and guides. We are here to to help our clients' vision become reality.

Korina Adkins High Sky Design came to Sedona in May 2002. It is the brainchild of Korina Adkins, a professional web designer and developer, with over six years of experience. She comes from the Washington DC area, and has previously worked for the University of Maryland, the American College of Nurse-Midwives, and the General Federation of Women's Clubs. She came to Sedona for a change of pace, and in order to be closer to her family - artist Anni Adkins and photographer Joe Hoover.

Korina feels Sedona is in need of professional and affordable web design services, in order for its businesses to be competitive in the local and world market, and for its organizations to effectively communicate their missions.

Besides managing High Sky, Korina is training to be an On-Call Reserve Firefighter / EMT with Sedona Fire District. You can also find her doing production art at DeLuz Printing and Design. Feel free to stop in and say "hi."

She also plays soccer for the Flagstaff Monsoons and softball for the Jerome Ladies Jail. When she's not pursuing geekly activties, fire suppression classes, or sports, she is hiking and camping with her neurotic dachshund, Jerry.
